Editorial policies

Whatever parenting stage you're in, BabyCenter's goal is to give you the best information available, as clearly as possible, along with practical advice to help you manage and cope with every challenge you face on your parenting journey. We rely on trusted sources – respected health organizations, professional groups of doctors and other healthcare providers, experts in various fields, and published studies in peer-reviewed journals.

We believe you should always know the source of the information you're getting. On our articles, you'll see the author's byline and the medical reviewer's name at the top and sources listed at the bottom. For articles that don't contain information related to health or development, we use professional fact-checkers and editors to make sure information is accurate.

Our editors and advisors are constantly updating and reviewing articles to ensure they're comprehensive, up to date, and helpful. We care deeply about feedback from our readers. Learn more about our editorial process.

Medical Advisory Board

Any content containing medical information or guidance on health or development is reviewed by a doctor or healthcare professional on BabyCenter's Medical Advisory Board. (For example, an article on the stages of labor would be reviewed by an ob-gyn, and a video on breastfeeding by a lactation consultant.) These experts help make sure BabyCenter provides the most complete and accurate pregnancy and parenting information possible.

Our advisory board members are highly respected professionals at the top of their fields who are selected based on their range of knowledge and experience. Their specialties include fertility, obstetrics, midwifery, pediatrics, child development, and emotional health. See our medical advisory board.

Advertising policies

BabyCenter relies on revenue from paid advertisements, but maintains full editorial independence. We adhere to a strict policy of separation between editorial and advertising content.

You'll see advertising on our pages in standard ad units or modules that are clearly labeled "advertisement" or "from our sponsors." BabyCenter also earns revenue by creating content in collaboration with advertising clients. In these cases, you'll always see a disclosure stating that the content was paid for by a particular advertiser.

We never allow advertisers to influence editorial content. If you don't see any language that says "from our sponsors" or "paid for by," then you know what you're reading or viewing contains only editorial information. Learn more about our advertising policies.
