As a mom of three, she loves that her professional life is focused on supporting and empowering parents and expecting parents. Gates lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her family and a menagerie of small animals that includes two parakeets, a hamster, and a puppy.

Prior to joining BabyCenter, Gates was a newspaper reporter, a staff writer for Forbes.com, and an editor at Aol. She won second place in the California Newspaper Publishers Association statewide competition for best feature story.
